On April 1, 2011, I logged in and traveled around deviant pages and this "troll face" kept appearing in the bottom left corner of the age and once, a giant troll face took over the better part of my browser. I right clicked and opened it into a new window to find This Article, representing the April fools joke for this year, that persistently asked me, "Is there a problem?" The article brought me to your art on Shia. I had recognized the piece from years ago and honestly thought it was an April Fools joke that Shia had it tattooed on him before I close upped on the photo's and your actual piece of art. Not that that mattered to me - although, really exceptional that he does have it tattooed on him! A great piece with so much significance and truly reaches everyone, individually to find their own meaning. .. I'm glad the troll was the joke and not the tattoo. I've since shown a few people who are not deviants the tattoo. And my transformers fanatic father and two boys that, "'Sam', has the most inspirational piece of art tattooed on him!!!" (I said to my kids... who are 6 and 3 and now want a tattoo LOL!)
Your art has also left a great impression on my 6 year old, to draw every day. He loves to draw and his "hero" of sorts has it imprinted on him forever - and although he's only 6 years old, he has his own perception of meaning from it. :)

Best wishes, always.
Dae.

I remember, "Prisoner of my Own," from back when it was new here. I remember thinking I knew what it meant and I could identify with it. Well, maybe I did and could, but clearly in a different way than I can today I would assume.
I've been a prisoner of my own doings and choices for a good number of years and I've been realizing it over these last months. I clicked on the April Fools thing dA put together and saw Shia's picture with the tattoo and many things came rushing into my mind. How much I've been imprisoned by my own doing and how easily I've let myself stay a prisoner. It's far more difficult allowing myself the freedom and time has been well served. These things will always remain, but it's time for me to forgive myself and move forward. I've taken the punishment, both from myself and any others that may have been hurt by me or my choices. I may be straying from the focus of what you intended. Maybe you meant it as completely artistic - and I can relate to that as well. It's a great piece of art work (and not because a well know celebrity has it tattooed) ... it truly is a great piece of art in the way that it can evoke many different perceptions from it. You really brought the audience into this one and gave us a voice, in our own words, with your work. Magnificent! You've done with this drawing what every writer aspires to do with their writing... Thank you.
Dae.

Every now and then I receive a comment that seems to come right out of my own mind, or better yet, my own heart. Those are the trickiest ones too, 'cause I never know how to reply to them properly. The more I try to come up with the right words and do them justice, the more I fail to do so. This is one of those cases.
I'm sorry to hear you had such a struggle (I know what it's like) but I'm also glad that you finally came to realization that forgiving yourself and leaving the past where it belongs is the only way to break the chain. We, and only we hold the key to the very freedom and happiness we keep looking for elsewhere our entire life.

Thank you Dae for your lovely comment. It means a lot to me.
Henrik

On a side note, you mentioned something about clicking on the April Fools thing and being redirected to an image of Shia? What exactly happened? I noticed an unusual increase of views and favs regarding that drawing yesterday, but I couldn't figure out how and why.

First time I've looked at your gallery, and I am in awe. My two favorites must be Can't turn back time and Prisoner of my own.
