I came across this poem some time ago and I loved it, so I thought I'd share it with you guys.
Apparently it's a modified version of The Paradoxical Commandments by Kent M. Keith and has been written on the wall of Mother Teresa's home for children in Calcutta. Either way, these are words to live by.

Wish you all a very merry Christmas and a wonderful 2009!

Henrik

People are often unreasonable, illogical, and self-centered;
Forgive them anyway.

If you are kind, people may accuse you of selfish, ulterior motives;
Be kind anyway.

If you are successful, you will win some false friends and some true enemies;
Succeed anyway.

If you are honest and frank, people may cheat you;
Be honest and frank anyway.

What you spend years building, someone could destroy overnight;
Build anyway.

If you find serenity and happiness, some may be jealous;
Be happy anyway.

The good you do today, people will often forget tomorrow;
Do good anyway.

Give the world the best you have, and it may never be enough;
Give the world the best you've got anyway.

For you see, in the end, it is between you and your true self;
It never was between you and them anyway.

Thank you for sharing this. I don't know how this may or may not effect others, but it most certainly has had a profound effect on me.

...I can dream, and create, and continue to be the odd-self that I am, regardless of what they believe...it was never about them anyway...what a nice thought :happycry:

Thanks again =)
